I use a gas cook top & have to replace my “breakfast” pans every year. I only use the non-stick pans for eggs, omelets, etc which I cook almost daily.. These pans seem to be holding up very well. They must be hand washed, but it takes almost zero effort. The handles never get hot, and are easy for me to grip.I have had these pans for almost 2 months. Time will tell if they are going to perform as I’d like, but so far, so good. For Calphalon, the price was very good.

I purchased these pans in March 2008 and have gotten my money’s worth. However today I am ready to throw out the 12-inch pan. Food burns in spots in the pan, and the surface of the pan is flaking off. The nonstick property of both pans has degraded although I followed the care instructions for the cookware.

I use the pans 2-3 times a week and they have performed well. But these Calphalon pans do not last any longer than other less expensive nonstick brands I owned in the past. Since the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick brand is covered by a lifetime warranty, I will request a replacement set, or at least a replacement for the 12-inch pan, from Calphalon.

After only three months of responsible use (plastic or silicone spatulas, cleaning only with liquid “green” detergent and a non-scratch scrub pad) we have a hole in the non-stick coating. We do follow a low-fat, vegetarian diet, but always lubricated the pan with vegetable oil before adding food. If you invest this much money, get a Swiss Diamond–that lasted us four years. As for me, I plan to buy a new, cheap non-stick pan every 6 months.

I have used these pans nearly everyday for well over two years now and they are still going strong. They still don’t stick and cleaning up is very easy- even if they sit overnight. It’s true that the bolts get food stuck to them but I find them fairly easy to clean. I love these pans, my sister has a set and loves them and my mother recently got some and loves them too. I would strongly recommend these.

This is my second 12″ Kitchen Aid pan, I also have the smaller version. I like the weight of this pan and the price.Follow the directions to make the pan last- medium heat. The packing was awful- a gigantic box with brown paper on top. The pan must have bounced around a lot- it is off-round, more oval shaped on one side. The handle was sticking out of a hole in the box. If I had been home when it was delivered, I might not have accepted it.

First the good – nice and heavy, heats evenly, good quality “feel”. Now the bad. I’ve had two of them and both behaved the same way. Despite using only plastic utensils, multiple small scratches developed. And despite following instructions and never using a heat setting higher than “medium”, both began to stick within about six months of usage. Even bacon! Fool me once – shame on me. Fool me twice – shame on me again I guess.

I am very pleased with this product. They are well balanced pans and don’t slide on the burner and nothing sticks, not even eggs without oil! Heat is evenly distrubuted. Clean up is a breeze.

Unison 12-inch Slide Omelet Pan: Someone else has already said this, but this pan is TRULY nonstick and the “slide” finish provides the best results I’ve ever had with a pan (and, I’ve been though lots of pans in my 55 years). This was our first piece of Unison or actually of Calphalon, bought to begin replacing well-loved Chantal that is wearing out after many years, and the performance of this pan has been such that we have since purchased the 4-qt soup pot, the 5-qt dutch oven and the 8-inch omelet pan (and, dreaming of buying more pieces!). The pan heats very evenly on my gas stove, cooks very evenly and cleaning it is a breeze. I will say, though, that I have never put it in the dishwasher, even though it is said to be dishwasher-safe, and would have concern that even if the inner “slide” surface is dishwasher-safe, that the outer surface would discolor from using a dishwasher. It doesn’t matter to me, though, as I love the pan so much & am so happy with it, that I am happy to hand-wash it! EXCELLENT heat conduction and it requires pretty much no oil to cook, clean-up is almost a pleasure!

This pan is simply amazing, it browns the food and won’t stick to anything. Almost perfect because its surface is very delicate, a careless move and it scratches. I found that using a plastic turner could scratch it, but a bamboo one would not. Again, be careful with it and cooking and cleaning will be a lot more fun.

The good: It cooks evenly, and the nonstick works. Very solid, durable pan. The tempered glass lid fits well, and is also solid. The handle stays cool. Very easy to clean.

The bad: Heavier and deeper than expected. Approximate weight of a similarly sized (but not deep) iron skillet. Like another reviewer said, it’s an omelette pan, but there is no way that you’d actually use it for omelettes unless you like your omelettes about two inches thick.

Overall: It functions very well. Love the fact that it cleans easily. My only complaint is that it’s heavy and deeper than I expected. But that’s a minor flaw, and the heaviness is probably what makes it durable. So, if you don’t care about the weight or depth of the pan, this pan is a great choice.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE THESE PANS!! They are absolutely the finest skillets I have ever had. I really didn’t have the ‘financial backing’ to invest in an expensive set of pans. I truly needed a skillet, as my old one had really lost it’s ability to stop food from sticking, and it needed to be ‘recycled’! I started checking the customer rating of skillets across the web. By far, the KitchenAid had the highest rating in an inexpensive skillet. Everyone says how pleased they are with the design and durability. Since I purchased this set, I have also purchased the 11″ wok and smaller 8″ skillet, perfect for the one or two egg frying. I want these to last forever, so I wash them up as soon as I am done with them, dry and hang them back up, so that my family doesn’t forget and stick them in the dishwasher, which is not recommended. They wash up beautifully. I use one or more of them each day, and the exterior remains pristine in appearance. I could go on, but you get the picture!!! By the way, I have a smooth top glass [Ceran] cooktop, and I have no problems with the pans cooking evenly.

KitchenAid makes great stuff and this set of Non-Stick Skillets is another example.
The pans are perfect for my needs and the non-stick finish is the best I have ever seen. Cleanup is easy with a few drops of dishwash liquid and hot water. A quick wipe with a paper towel and the pan is clean and ready to store away.

The only negative was the way the two pans were tied together when shipped. I actually caused a scratch on the upper rim of the larger one trying to cut the plastic tye. I eventually needed to resort to a box cutter!

I have used the pans for omelets, turkey burgers, Boca burgers, etc. It is so good on burgers that I no longer use my George Foreman grill. Buy these pans with confidence because this company has figured out that quality is the best marketing tool you can use.

My wife and I got this for a wedding present, and we love it. Nothing sticks to it, and it’s so easy to clean up. (We don’t use metals utensils with it.) It’s a little bit small for a 3-egg omelet, so you may want to look for a 10- or 12-inch version if that’s what you’re looking to use it for, but it’s a great pan. We would definitely recommend it.

This is my second Calphalon nonstick skillet. I have an older omelet skillet w/o the lid, but I rarely use it because it is not deep enough for items such as fish and stir-fry stuff. I don’t want a stir-fry wok. I purchased this chef’s skillet mainly because of its size, weight, nonstick surface, and lid. My fish turns out great using this skillet! The skillet is just right for me since I don’t need to cook in large quantity.

Of course, the skillet is very easy to clean. This should be my last skillet – I’ve got another set of skillets from Calphalon stainless steel. I think the price for chef’s skillet is a bit too high (compare this to the nonstick 13″ deep skillet), but I am glad I made the purchase. Got from Macy’s on sale and free shipping!

This is a great pan. I got it a a lower price and was well worth the money. I love the rubber grip handle, the ease of cleaning the pan. I liked the bottom surface, it seemed to cook food evenly. Ive only had the pan for a month, it doesnt seem to be a a heavy duty pan. So I wonder how long it ill last. Will post again if it doesnt hold up.

I’ve had this skillet for 4 months, and it is growing on me. I typically cook using cast iron or steel skillets.

If you have an induction range, (e.g., I have the Viking Induction) note that the skillet does not contain much inductive material, and it heats considerably slower than carbon steel or cast iron. On the other hand, that is convenient because you do not want to accidentally ruin a nonstick finish by overheating the pan.

There are two design shortcomings. First, the sides of the skillet are too vertical. It is not possible to “toss” well while sauteing. If you only “stir” this is not a problem. It would be better with more angled sides. The second shortcoming is that the handle has a small, awkward loop, which is hard to hang on a pot hook with any other pans.

The strengths are that the skillet is solid and well-built. The nonstick finish is well attached, and looks like new after four months. The nonstick finish is slightly textured which helps distribute oil.

Note a cover is not included. If you want one, you will need the J.A. Henckels International Classic Clad 26-Centimeter Lid

Excellent Frittata Pan, and the most used pan in my kitchen.
Gentle heat your ingredients/left-overs/or what ever (I do a smoked salmon (which I don’t fry, just add at the end before oven cooking), pine nuts, green onion, mushroom with spinach with goat cheese frittata everyone loves) on low heat on the burner, add your eggs and cheese, transfer the whole thing to a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes and YUM!
