This cast iron grill pan is pre-seasoned and ready-to-use, without needing to specially prepare it before use by baking oil into the surface. Cast iron cookware cooks evenly and retains heat and may be used on the stovetop, in the oven, or over a campfire. The raised ribs on the surface of the grill pan allow the fat to drain while cooking meats and poultry.
The cookware’s flat bottom allows it to heat evenly across the cooking surface, and may be safely used on ceramic glass cooktops.

Before first use, rinse with hot water (without soap) and dry completely. Apply a light coat of vegetable oil or non-stick cooking spray onto the inside surface before cooking. Do not place on a hot burner; allow the cookware to heat as the burner heats. To clean after cooking, allow the cookware to cool before washing with a brush and hot water; do not use soap or detergents. Immediately towel dry and apply a light coat of oil. Store in a cool, dry place.

I’ve been using the pan almost daily for two months and have no complaints. It needs less oil than even my well seasoned cast iron pans, and nothing sticks. I’ve made burgers without oil in the pan, and the cleanup was a breeze. Unlike my old Calphalon nonstick, which I hated because most everything stuck, it allows food to carmelize and distributes heat evenly. The stainless bottom plate that sits on the burner does darken and you will need to use a cleanser to keep it shiny. Even if it wears out in a couple of years, I will probably replace it with another Scanpan.

i first bought this pan about 2 years ago. i loved it so much i bought a second and then some others including the 14 inch fry pan. theyre the best and this size especially is perfect for eggs and omelets. ive never had a pan that worked so well with eggs. in fact, i used my egg pans very frequently and after about a year and a half the surface did become eroded. i contacted the company and they stood behind their warranty and sent me replacement pans. im beyond happy with my scanpans!

This cookware is supposed to have a lifetime warranty….if you can get anybody to cover it. The manufacturer says to contact the distributor, and the distributor is unresponsive. Pretty expensive cookware that doesn’t hold up as it is supposed to do.

This scan pan is one of the best, if not the best. The finish lasts for several years but not forever. Very hard finish that resists scratches and food does not stick. I do not use PAM or other sprays just butter or oil. Would say not to fry bacon or other items with lots of oil or grease. Makes good pan cakes and eggs.
Unique no handle jumbo platter to accommodate larger appetizers/dinners to share. Non-Stick cooking area when properly seasoned, with a finish that last a life time.
We have granite countertops and food gets cold quickly when placed on them. I treated this like a cast iron skillet. Then, as a serving tray. Perfect for a whole chicken, pork loin, meatloaf, etc.. I don’t cook on it, just prepare the meat for serving, warm it in the oven on this and prepare the rest of the meal. I keeps the meat warm while I prepare the rest and DURING mealtime (even on granite). I clean it and treat it just like a skillet Swish it in sudsy water water, then place it in an already warm/hot oven to dry. Nice size for 2-4 people (or more servings). Very rustic looking and presentable for a serving dish in my opinion. Will order a couple more. Didn’t get the wood holder. Don’t need it, but may check into it later.

The only reason I didn’t rank it 5 stars was because they weren’t preseasoned. But thats no big deal — a can of shortening which also doubles instead of anti-stick spray and makes it easy to know when your pan is hot enough to start cooking.
I bought a few sizes of these to replace teflon pans due to having birds in my small space. This size is perfect for about a half pound of meat.
